Mother's Day 2011

For Mother's Day, we got an early tee time at San Marcos Golf Club in Chandler. They had a nice brunch that my aunt, grandma, and a few cousins met us at later after our round of golf. Our lunch was served with a few choices of salads, a lunch entree with a side, and a few choices of deserts. The cheesecake was PHENOMENAL! I also got a mimosa, which until my sisters wedding, I didn't realize how much I liked them! I'm a "special occasion" kind of drinker, but if I wasn't...I'd be in trouble! ;) Anyway, here are a few pictures from our round of golf! We had so much fun even if we "cheat". We have an inside joke with our family...Hailey "doesn't count" the strokes if her ball doesn't go more that 2 feet on the putting green, my mom doesn't count how many times it takes her to get the ball BACK into her own fairway and YES! I tee up everywhere my ball lands except the sand and putting green...Poor Kel tried to play, but it just wasn't working out for her.And don't be mistaken, this is my little sister driving the ball, not swinging a bat! Haha!Even though we had to chase a few balls down, I only lost one!

And this little sweet girl who made this special day possible for me:) Kenny dropped Peyton off with us for lunch after we were done playing. So delicious!

One of these days I will catch up on posting. I think I am so far behind it scares me a little to start because it's going to take a while and I don't want to spend the time to be quite honest! Anyway, here's a quick post for you...

I completed these two little projects one morning. First off, let me tell you how much I LOVE going to yard sales! Just to look for anything that I can paint and add to my home decor. To be honest, I never have too much luck, and have only came home with maybe 3 frames...kind of a bummer because I love good deals, but I just look at it as saving money!

Well, last month I went one morning and came across something I knew I "needed"... another shelf for Peyton's stuff! The others just weren't cutting it anymore. So I pulled up to this one house because I saw this shelving unit leaning against a bush. I was walking up right behind a guy and his wife and he was looking at the same item that made me pull over:( He walked away and I saw a sticker that said $10. The lady that was "hosting" this yard sale was standing there and I asked her how she mounted it to the wall because it seemed to be missing a few peices of the hardware, and she had some suggestions for me. So I offered her $5 thinking she would counter-offer with a couple dollars more, which I would have been more than willing to pay, but yes I am that cheap and hoped she would accept it, which SHE DID! I was THRILLED to say the least:) And the funny part of the story was that the guy who was looking at it before me (who walked away I must add) was getting ready to show his wife and I just heard him say, "well you were over there lolligagging and it's sold now." Haha! "Ya snooze, ya lose." (I'm not that mean, I just don't feel too bad because the guy wasn't mad about it...at least I didn't think he was...anyway it is much bigger and stores more! I'm a little hesitant to put all of her books on it because I don't want her to climb up to get them so I only put a few on that she doesn't read all the time!

My other project was finally painting this...for the third time! I had it black when the toy room was our guest room. After we made it her toy room I just thought the black was too dark for a toy room so I painted it white and left a little black in the crevices. Mainly because I didn't take the time to paint it completely and thought it was "good enough" no one ever sees it anyway. Well, in January, we got a new tv I thought it would be perfect below it, but the color definitely didn't work. I put off painting it and was sick of looking at it everyday knowing it needed to be done so I finally repainted it. I just want to rough up the edges so it looks a little more "worn" than so crisp and shiny.

Saturday we were invited over to Kenny's Nonni's house for lunch. She was planning to bbq, but after the forecast predicted rain, she made delicious sloppy joe's instead with beans, potato salad, deviled eggs (one of my faves!), and a delicious chocolate cake! Even though the rain changed our plans, the food was still great and weather like that couldn't get any better! I love the rain! That night we had a birthday party for one of our friends so we went over there for a little bit. I didn't take pictures, but Peyton met a new friend. She was so cute and such a CHUNK!:) We weren't there very long before Peyton started getting tired, but we got an intense game of catch phrase in:)

The Superstitions on our way to Nonni's on Saturday! Gorgeous!
These were growing in Nonni's yard and I though they were so pretty so she gave me some to plant! I hope they make it! We needed some color in our yard! We don't have a drip system yet and we don't want to spend money on plants if they are going to die so we will see how I do with these;)Sunday, we woke up early and since it was so nice outside, we did yard work! I don't mind doing yard work...I think I appreciate our yard even more when we put so much work into it. It was pretty bad though! Since we didn't plant winter rye there wasn't any yard work to do over the winter. The weeds started sprouting up recently and then with the heat, it just got out of control! So we spent the first half of the day cleaning it up! I wish I would have taken a before picture, but with the amount of weeds in this pile, you can imagine!Plus our garbage can was FULL of weeds! This is what we have left and the worst of it so I think we might hire someone for this half of our yard! Anyone know someone fairly priced? Our dogs sure do appreciate the clean backyard too!Angus enjoys the shade! Sunday evening we played softball at Skyline Park and won the first game of the tournament, but then lost the next game. It was still fun, but I realized I am out of shape! I almost had a homerun (inside the park of course and off of errors lol) but when I got to third base my team-mate was telling me to go and when I stopped I told him I couldn't because my legs were like jello! My hamstrings were already hurting from all my weed-pulling that morning! Hahaha! Then, I was playing left field and caught every fly ball that was hit to me except one because my left leg cramped up and I couldn't run! Its almost embarrassing to be honest, but I have to admit I am getting older and I need to stretch before any physical activity! LOL I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Breakfast picnic in the park!

Sunday morning I made some cinnamon rolls, cut up some strawberries then we headed down to the park for a little picnic! She loves the park
Enjoying and sharing her breakfast!
!She didn't want to leave so she thought throwing her hat on the ground would make us stay longer...She will learn some day that it is no way to get what she wants;)It may seem like she throws fits a lot, but she really is a good little girl! Her tantrums are just really funny so I like to share them! :)

Still playing catch-up...Kelli's Bridal Shower!

For Kelli's bridal shower we had a small "luncheon" and it turned out great! When Kelli first started planning their wedding, she liked the idea of doing long dinner tables at the reception. When they decided to have the wedding in California the reception site only had round tables so I thought since we were having a luncheon the long buffet style table would work perfectly! We had it in my parents backyard and the weather was perfect! Everyone had a great time!A few of Kel's friends! Some family... Peyton couldn't get enough fruit! I finally had to cut her off the blueberries so she wouldn't get a tummy ache!My mom made creme brulee and chocolate mousse for dessert! We also made rainbow chip cupcakes, which are Kelli's favorite! I think she was a little hyped up on sugar here! Peyton was helping with opening gifts! My Aunt Julie made me a recipe scrapbook with her favorite appetizers, dinners, and desserts just like this and I LOVE it! Kelli was really excited to get one too! Doesn't she look so cute? I swear, she should be a maternity model!Stealing some of grandma's cupcake! Then stealing some of mom's!

Lately...

I have been slacking on my blogging for the last month...or two...I was really excited to get some of Kelli's and Thomas's wedding pictures up so that is why that post happened so fast! Then I realized how many pictures I have from the last month or so and thought I should get those up before I forget! We have been spending a lot of time at the park before it gets too hot! I love summer, (mainly because I hate being cold) but I am not looking forward to lugging Peyton around in the heat, lathering her up on sunblock constantly if we decide to go outside, the weeds in our yard to grow out of control (which has almost happened) sweating profusely, taking showers three times a day because it's so stinkin' hot! Our electric bill:( You get the picture! However, I will take Arizona weather over anywhere else any day! Here are a few random pictures of our little lady! She woke up and I did not touch one piece of her hair before I took this! She LOVES her babies and their stroller! When we drive she has to have it in her lap or she freaks out...which is what happened right before I snapped this picture. We were at San Tan Mall when she threw a fit in front of American Eagle. I was inside paying and I look out the window to see Kenny standing there with Peyton crying and Kenny pointing to the truck as he was saying, "We'll be at the truck." When I met him at the truck he said she started crying because he put her in the stroller to change her diaper so she couldn't have her babies at the moment. You can tell she was a little upset still, but she was tired too...I know that's no excuse! She loves her babies! She LOVES drawing! She LOVES chocolate! At the end of February we went to Schnepf Farms with Katie, Jake, and Ryker! There wasn't much open, but we went on a train ride, went into the little petting zoo, and then they had the little store open where we got a cinnamon roll. The weather was perfect!
