Here's what's been goin' on...

It's FOOTBALL SEASON! Woot Woot!
Proud Romo fan!Playing a little catch with Daddy during the games on SundayAnd then a little soccer... Maybe Peyton had a hunch the Cowboys were gonna lose...Daddy on the other hand didn't see it coming:(...On the bright side, we won ALL SIX of our fantasy leagues...Of course we would take a Cowboys win over fantasy any day, but ya win some and ya lose some. I can't help but laugh at Peyton's hair...it seriously looks like a mullet! Playing in the field after one of mom and dad's games! I love this time of year...it's finally cooling down, football is here and the holidays are coming! Woo Hoo! We have been playing a lot of softball and Kenny's men's team is doing really well! So good in fact, that they are on "probation" because other teams feel they are too good to be playing in the recreational league! I don't know what "probation" means exactly, but I guess they shouldn't play to win??

Not this last weekend, but the weekend before that, we went to the ASU game with Matt and Sasha! We had a great time...except when the drunk (probably underage) girl next to us started puking! I may sound cold-hearted, but I have absolutely no sympathy for people who get to this point. Apparently, her friends must have felt the same because they just continued taking pictures of themselves! Good friends they are! It was DISGUSTING! There were a few seats open next to us on the opposite side so we were able to scoot down. It was a long game too! We ended up leaving close to 10:00 and the 4th quarter was just barely starting! ASU ended up winning-if you care:) We had a great time!Sunday and Monday(of Labor Day weekend) were nice and relaxing...We went to Kenny's parents on Sunday, then Monday we went to my parents' for the afternoon! We swam and ate good food both days! We went to San Tan Mall with auntie Kel too! I didn't play for too long because some little boy covered the the water spout and it squirted out in my face:( Mom almost beat him up, but Auntie Kel had to hold her back...(Ok, she didn't really almost beat up a six year old, but she said he should know better because I was playing with it first-haha) Daddy's softball team's trainer..."Anyone need their ankles taped?""How 'bout you mom?"I experienced my first "parent with a toddler incident" and she isn't even two! I was washing dishes and she was playing in the den. I didn't hear her for a minute so I went into the den...didn't see her...walked into the hallway...she wasn't there either...walked around the corner to her bedroom...there she as with my turquoise craft paint! I took it away and grabbed the towel that was luckily laying right there from her bath that morning. I started to clean her hands and didn't realize until I picked her up to go rinse them off that she had a perfect application of turquoise "lipstick!" Thank goodness for non-toxic craft paint! Now our carpet on the hand...well it definitely needs a patch job. At least we have extra carpet rolls to get that done! What do the terrible two's have in store for me?!?!Let me just show you the drama queen we have on our hands over here in the Holmes' household...she had a pen so I took it away...I know this is kinda teasing her and mean on my part, but I just wanted to share...Then about 3 seconds (if that) after I gave it back to her. (Of course I didn't let her keep playing with it) Can you say "DRAMATIC?"What is this?Ha, you think you can just sneak this thing on me? I'm smarter than that!Other than Peyton being a dramatic and sassy little girl, she is so fun! She loves to dance to any music that comes on...especially the swiffer commercial...you know, the song that goes "Don't you love me baby?" It's pretty funny! And she loves Glee! When a song comes on she instantly stops what she is doing and goes and stands right in front of the tv and will move only her right arm (like she is doing the "chicken dance") Then when she really gets into it, she will lift up her right leg and keep trying to balance on it or she will kick it out like she is doing a yoga move or something. She also LOVES "Flo" from the progressive commercials. She can be almost asleep in the evening while we are watching tv and as soon as she hears her talk she flips up and INSTANTLY smiles! The other night I was cooking and she was hanging on to my legs whining because she wanted me to hold her, but as soon as she heard "Flo" talking she walked out of the kitchen and around the couch to watch her. She loves bath time and brushing her OWN teeth...Heaven forbid we try to help her with that! She is such a hoot and love her more and more everyday!

Peyton is probably at the BEST age right now! Of course, every stage is great and it really does just keep getting better, but she is SO MUCH FUN right now! Every day she does stuff that just makes us laugh so much! We are so grateful to have her in lives and I don't know what we would do without her now. She loves when Kenny comes home and she will run into our room because she knows he will chase her. He will pick her up and (gently) toss her on the bed and she will get up and fall face first continuously into the pillows! She loves it! She also tries to run to you and she will put her arms up with her head back when you say "come give me a hug!"

She has 16 teeth now! I am beginning to think that this is just absurd because everyone that I talk to can't believe she has so many! This girl can put some food away too! She eats close to two scrambled eggs plus a banana every morning with a full cup of milk. For lunch, I have been making her grilled cheese sandwiches and she usually will eat a whole one minus the crust. She is constantly snacking all day long too on crackers, fruit, pretzels, whatever she can get her hands on!

Sometimes I think she shares her food with the dogs because if I don't put them outside while she eats they are right on her heels! And she is pretty good at sharing. She will usually give you whatever she has if you ask for some. She loves this little chair and I don't know why we never thought to bring it out of her room and into the living room. Anytime we couldn't find her, she would always be in her room in her chair with a book, ball, or even sometimes sitting there with nothing and just waiting for us to find her.
She LOVES playing catch and can throw the ball pretty well too!She also likes to play with her little golf clubs. She will chase Winnie with them and finds it hilarious when she runs away! I could just eat that smile up! On Friday, Peyton joined her two friends, Daley and Braxton, for "Story Time" at Barnes and Noble and they weren't interested in the story as much as the snacks we had for them.Afterwards, we went to the splash pad and she loved it! This was the first time she ever played in the water. She got a little upset when a kid tried to cover the hole and it got her more wet than what she wanted. A little later my mom met us there and we went to lunch at Brio. Peyton enjoyed coloring while we enjoyed our crab cakes-yummy! Later that night I played softball and it was so precious watching Kenny chase Peyton around. Then I would see her bend down and hand him rock after rock and thought it was so sweet and sad to see how big she has gotten:( sniff, sniffBraxton was not having any of the splash pad fun!Daley didn't waste anytime!
Eventually, she was just interested in the stroller and stairs rather than the water and toys. Thanks again Steve and Mal for the invite (and pictures)! We had a great time!

Saturday, after we did some yard work, we went to Kenny's parents' to watch the Cowboys game...we won't talk about that though...they lost and that's that...but she had fun playing with all the toys from Aunt Patti, Jen, and Kristi over there! I have been trying to catch this look she gives on camera...she will laugh with you then all of a sudden she'll put her head down like this and stare out of the tops of her eyes. It's really funny!Sunday we had a fantasy football draft at my cousins' house! I can't believe it's already time for this madness to begin! Here's auntie Kelli chasing Peyton around!

Craigslist

I love this site! I have sold quite a few items on it and even purchased a fab find...my glider/rocker for $15! However, I hate all the junk/"sold already"/ugly/broken stuff you have to go through to find whatever it is that you're looking for...

Example A: I see the description of what I'm looking for, I click, NO PICTURE! Can you say frustrating! Because chances are I'm not gonna waste my time to email because more than likely it's an overprice piece of junk anyway!

Which brings me to...

Example B: I want a wingback chair, just for the heck of it...I want to ATTEMPT to reupholster it just because I think it might be a fun little cheap project...anyway, so I start looking at the furniture and I see some of the stuff people put on there like a "couch for $100 with holes/tears/cat scratches...but it's really comfy"...just because people buy their jeans with tears doesn't mean they will buy a couch with tears! And for $100 at that! C'mon people!

So, the point of this post was just for a little humor...I was cleaning out my junk drawers and found my old ipod. I figured that since we have itouches and I haven't used it in almost 2 years, I might as well try to sell it. So I put it on Craigslist for $60 with all the little accessories. A couple of hours later I got 3 emails and here is what one of them said...

"would you be interested in a trade for it? i got a nice 3 hose hookah, some knives, and a mini samuri sword, and also got a small clarion amp, if your interested in anything let me know you can also text me at ###-###-#### - Warlock Shaylo"

First off, I don't smoke whatever it is that you put into a hookah...I definitely don't need any knives-I would rather have a gun for protection-I'm not into Worlds of Warcraft or whatever that game is so a mini samuri sword wouldn't do me any good, and I'm pretty sure I don't need a clarion amp...Just thought this was funny! Of course my response wasn't this blunt, but I did have the courtesy to send a simple "no, but thanks" his way.

PS Warlock Shaylo might be his war name, ya think?

HAPPY FRIDAY!

I'm not sure what I last blogged about, and what updates I have given, so I'm sorry if some of this is stuff you already know, but the most important is that Peyton is finally walking! Actually, for a little over a week now. She is all over the place and fast too! She is just so dang cute with her little sassy personality blooming more and more everyday. She loves to play, talk, dance to ANY music she hears, laugh, and then there's the dirty looks, fits and tantrums that it seems she has almost perfected. But, she really is such a happy, fun, loving, sweet, dramatic, PERFECT, baby girl. She can point to her belly, belly-button, foot, and will clap right after she does it because she knows we clap and say "good girl" She totally said "thank you" one morning too right after I gave her a cup of milk.

We can finally do piggy-tails! A milestone that every little girl can't get to fast enough! Well, unless you are lucky enough to be born with a ton of hair-which in P's case, she was unfortunate. I don't do it much because her hair just gets messed up in the carseat because it's not long enough to stay in the rubberband. She fills the basket up with blocks, and doesn't ride the horse like she is supposed to, but instead she just drags it all around. This is one of the toys that will make music and she just stands next to it and dances when it plays "Yankee Doodle"Funny story about this little baby carriage...Our little neighbor Dana, she is four. She loves to come over and play with Peyton because her little sister was just born about a month ago so obviously she is too small to play with. Anyway, she came over one day and I answered the door and she said, "Hi...um, would you like to buy this baby toy?" And I said, "ok, how much are you selling it for?" She said, "$85" Haha! I told her that I didn't want to take her toys and that she should save it for her little sister to play with when she gets bigger, but she ended up telling me that Peyton could just have it because her mom was making her get rid of some of her toys. She is such a cutie! But, Peyton kept trying to sit in it and kept getting stuck, then would cry because she couldn't get out so we finally had to put it away until she is a little older. Whenever you say, "Hello" she will put her hand up to her ear like she is holding a phone (this time she actually had a phone) and tries to say "Hello"...one day she said it and it was plain as day! We laughed because we were just expecting her to put her hand up to her ear.Kenny and I laugh HYSTERICALLY-literally holding our stomachs, rolling on the floor when she puts shorts on her head and just looks at us like this! She doesn't crack a smile or anything just puts on a little show-and apparently likes the reaction she gets from us because she does it all the time! At Home Depot one day, just playing around!Just waking up from a nice little nap! Then she popped her head up and instantly posed...what a ham! "Daddy, can I please have some more ice cream? We went to Tucson a few times last week because Auntie Hailey's team went to regionals for Allstars. They won state the week before, but ended up losing after going 2-2 at regionals. When does the game start? I'm bored! My little set-up at the games! Paige, our niece, moved up to Canada with her mom so we had a little going away party for her. We are upset that we won't see her as much as we're used to, but she seemed to be excited about not starting school until later and she was going to see her other grandma and grandpa on the way up. We will see her in December, but I'm sure it wont come fast enough! Peyton and some of her little cousins! Peyton didn't feel like cooperating at the moment. We have had a couple birthday parties too! Me and mommy at Trevor's and Jack's party at the park!Ethan's party at Peter Piper!Nana's birthday cake that Jen made! It was delicious too! Mine and Kenny's softball season came to an end this last friday too:( But, we won the whole darn thing! Woot Woot! We beat Subway, the team who almost goes undefeated EVERY season, and usually wins the Championship! We beat them 23-14 and they were UPSET! Kenny got into with one of the guys because 3 of them hit it right back at our pitcher and these guys can control exactly where they hit the ball. They didn't fight, but if our friend didn't get in the middle of it...who knows? Anyway, we won and that's all that matters! It was muggy and hot, but well worth playing almost two and a half hours in the miserable weather! Photo: Courtesy of Mal:) Thank you!
